How to protect the bicycle from rust

Rust causes metal erosion and damage, and may be the main cause of bicycle damage; Because it's spreading rapidly, so we have to do some of the measures that save our bike, to protect it from rust. These include:

• Maintaining and covering the bike in an appropriate location; This is because it is blocked from water and air, which are important factors in the occurrence of rust.
• Paint the bicycle with a wax to protect it from moisture; Moisture is a major cause of rust formation, and waxing the bicycle will prevent moisture from reaching the metal and thus the formation of rust.
• It's possible to use silicon spray, which is a good product that protects the bike from rust, and we can find it in the stores for selling car oils.
• Linen seed oil, which contributes to the permanent protection of the bike from rust, if we scan the metal parts of it with this oil.

Rust removal methods

When our bike is eaten by rust; We have to get rid of this layer so that it doesn't spread, and there are several ways to get rid of it, including:

1. First way: We use peking soda and water; 50% water and 50% peking soda, and mix them well until a coherent paste is formed, and that's a good way if the rust layer is thin and light, not very, and a little lemon juice can be added to the mixture to enhance its functioning, where we put the paste directly on the rust, leave it for 10-15 minutes, and the peking layer must be thick soda. Until it's gone forever.
2. Second method: White vinegar can be used, by placing it in a spray, spraying it on the rust section, and white vinegar is considered the best to remove rust; And that's because it's more acidic than other stainless varieties, where the white vinegar solves directly, and if we're more effective at removing rust, a little bit of peking soda can be added to the white vinegar, and we can soak the rust part, and then clean it with a sponge, and after 10-15 minutes we wash the bike well with water.
3. Third way: If the previous methods are not feasible in removing rust, the chemical stainless can be used here, and the deodorant is found in bicycle stores, and the deodorant cannot be mixed with other materials; Like: Streak acid, vinegar or peking soda; Because they would be dangerous to health if they were mixed up with each other, and they could be deadly:

• Wearing gloves and wearing protective glasses; Because the chemical rust deodorant hurts the eyes and skin, and if it doesn't touch this deodorant, it needs to be washed well. 
• Read the instructions for this deactivation before using it. 
• The chemical stainless should not be used in narrow areas, it is necessary to open the windows and doors for ventilation, and the room must be exited immediately if the deactivation affects the body and dizziness.

A special brush must be used for the clean-up of the chemical deactivation, and the proposed period of 30 minutes to one day to keep it on rust depends on the chemical variety of the deactivation. After the prescribed clean-up period, we remove the traces of the rust and the chemical deactivation using a cloth, and it is necessary to dispose of them directly so that other fabrics are not contaminated.

• Mode four: This method is used to remove rust from metal tools and equipment, and can be used to remove rust from the bicycle, where we use salt and lemon juice, and then put the lemon and salt mixture on the rust part, leave it several hours, and then rust it well until the rust has gone off and cleaned up. Because it reacts to rust and changes color, and it could get worse than before.
• Method five: We wash the rust part using metal wool or snapper paper, and then we put a layer of nail polish that prevents the bike from being exposed to the air, where the paint forms a buffer layer between the bike and the air, and with this step we reduce the rust spread, and then we place a layer of grease for the bicycle's protection and rust protection, with a layer of grease periodically on it. That's to keep them from being rust again.
